Cement Park (Ben)
During the House Mission Project we discoverd a new area that we had not ever heard about before. It is a Slab of red brick and cement down on 125th and Lake City called Cemet Park. I was suprised when I went there at how many homeless and poor people there were. Usually most homeless people are solitary people, not staying in goups, perfering to go it alone, partly because it is easier to get stuff that way, but I think it also has to do with how they perfer to live, and in some cases it is a pride issue. But down at the Cement Park there are at least 10 - 20 people that are there together all the time, acting like a family by sharing food and other things that they have. It was almost a shock (in a good way) to see them divide up the food and supplies between themselves, and get along so well. It is definitly a place that would be very good to go to get to know more people, and find out more about all of them, hopefully we will be able to find a very mutually beneficial way to interact with this unique group of people.
